Sean for Mayor

Exploration

45 days before the Mayoral election Sean Anstee and his team visited Revolver Media with one single aim: to give the people of Greater Manchester a choice in the upcoming mayoral election. Win or lose, Sean wanted to make sure that whoever became mayor had to earn it.

Before Revolver Media got involved you’d have been forgiven for thinking that there was only one candidate running for Mayor of Greater Manchester. Many believed
that Labour heavyweight Andy Burnham would walk the election at a canter, with no challenge whatsoever. We needed to change this.

The challenge was enormous; competing against one of Labour’s leading politicians (boasting over 150,000 Twitter followers) in an area that’s staunchly labour and widely anti-Conservative. Victory was a long-shot but with the right strategy we knew we could make a difference and push Andy all the way.

Inspiration

So why should people vote for Sean over Andy? What’s the ‘point of difference’ that will really resonate with voters?
Well, Sean Anstee is the leader of Trafford Council, a self-made man from Partington who lives and works in the area. He genuinely loves the place and wants to make it better because this is his home.

This helped us create a campaign that was engaging, memorable and honest. We created a simple proposition that reached out to everyday Mancunians who just
want to improve the place that they call home… Like Sean needed to change this.

After all, not everyone cares about politics. They care about family, each other. Where they work. Where they live. They’re interested in their friends, what’s on TV, other people – well, this is the home of Coronation Street after all.

Sean cares all about these things too, that’s why he ran for mayor, and why he believes the people of Greater Manchester deserve better transport, better housing and greater access to good jobs.

This is more than a place to Sean. It’s where he’s from, it’s where he grew up and it’s his home. Our campaign delivered a real honest, heartfelt message about a man who wants to make life better for everyone in Greater Manchester, as he’s one of them too.

He’s ‘from here’ and he’s ‘for here’.
